ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the relationship between Islamic hospitality and Islamic tourism. It also explains the relationship between Arab hospitality and Islamic hospitality. Islamic hospitality is a thriving sector that is attracting significant attention and investment. The sector, which reflects a new trend in the hospitality industry in the Islamic world, focuses on the adoption of business practices and finance based on the Islamic principles of Shariah. This trend is developing rapidly and becoming more diverse since it is no longer associated only with religious tourism. The Islamic principles of hospitality which embraced many of the pre-Islamic Arab hospitality traditions apply not only to hotels but also to all areas where customers are present including educational institutions, hospitals and sports facilities. Currently Islamic hotel hospitality is defined as one that caters to the needs of Muslim travellers looking for a family-friendly, tranquil, entertaining and culturally sensitive and experience-enriching hotel.
