Introduction

This chapter places Sergius Bulgakov’s Mariology within the context of contemporary Marian Studies and introduces Sergius Bulgakov’s unique Orthodox perspective on Mary. With the exception of a few publications, Bulgakov’s Mariology has been largely ignored. Thus, this text also contributes to the analysis of Bulgakov’s theology.
