ABSTRACT
The translation is based on the critical edition of the Latin text by P. Anastasius Van den Wyngaen, O.F.M., which appeared in 1929. I have, however, adopted variant readings from Van den Wyngaert's apparatus in a number of cases .. To take proper names as an ·example, it seemed preferable to emp)oy the spellings Tebet, Capchac. Bolat and so on, rather than the forms Tebec, Capchat and Bolac which are reproduced in the printed edition. The chapter~titles, which do not app,ear in the oldest manuscript, have nevertheless been retained.
