ABSTRACT
The theories laid out in the preceding chapters instruct the user and interpreter to shed any art and architectural historical knowledge when dealing with Modern architecture. This refers above all to stylistic data or philosophical ideas about beauty, because such information is not helpful in interpreting and evaluating Modernist buildings. Instead, we must first trust our visual perceptions. Out of these, our mind constructs a mental image, which will then be transformed into an artistic conception.
