Right honourable with the remembraunce of my moste humble dutie, hit maie please you to be adverticed this Laste night here arived an englishe Barke which departed from Tenariff aboute vj weekes past, where (as the Master reporteth) there was certaine newes that her Majesties Fleete arived at the gran Canaries about the beginning of October laste and presentlie the Generalls disimbarked certen of their companies intending to have landed betwene the towne and the Forte which is aboute half a League distant, but by reason of contrarie windes, the sea went so highe, as themselves could not come neare the shore with anye savetie of themselves and furniture, so as they were constrained to retorne aborde, and passe to the Calmes on the backside of the Islande where they remained vj daies, and watred at their pleasure without attempting any further matter and thens departed on their voiage Onlie with the losse of ten men that stragled abroade in the countrey wherof vj were slaine, and thother fower were taken and examined by the spanyardes ; but coold not reporte anie more of the Generalis pretence then that they were bound for the Indies. Whiles they remained at the Canaries the spanyardes dispatched three Carvells of aviso to the Indies, to weete one from the Canaries; another from Tenarif, and the third From Palma: Thus muche I .have thought meete to advertice, And so beseeching thalmightie for the long continuaunce of your honours prosperous healthe, Do moste humblie take my leave Plymouth the xxvijth of November anno
