ABSTRACT

The owners of the Royal Admiral engaged for Three thousand pounds to take any number of miss to Tahiti not exceeding fifty, or to go to Tongatabu with Ten for One thousand pounds. Of the 29 miss that had been captured in the Duff, all of them except seven had dissolved their connection with the Society since their return. In the Royal Admiral there had been embarked 300 prisoners, and also passengers beside the miss and party of soldiers for N.S. Wales and some military officers. The worship of God was regularly kept up among the miss and preaching on Deck to the ship's company on the Sabbath and other days when the weather permitted. While in the Colony the miss. had learnt the disastrous termination of the mission at Tonga, as also the account of the death of Mr Lewis at Tahiti, and some discouragements appeared on the part of the miss that were in the Colony.
