ABSTRACT

Typically the term secondment refers to the loan of an individual by one organization to another (although it can also refer to situations where someone moves temporarily to another department or function within their own organization). The organizations involved can range from a large commercial or public sector organization to a small voluntary or charitable group. Secondment can take place business to business, business to public sector and vice versa, and business or public sector to voluntary sector. Movement between businesses is much less frequent than between business, government and the voluntary sector.
