ABSTRACT

It may seem that there is nothing to be said about the need to ask and to question if we are to learn. As a concept it is blindingly obvious. Yet, culturally, we are not very good at asking, whether it be asking for help, asking for advice, or asking how to do something. It is as if we feel an inhibition, as if we are supposed to know everything we need to know and to be able to do everything without help. Or that by asking we may be taking up someone else’s time inappropriately.
