ABSTRACT

In this section we are concerned with face-to-face situations in which a more experienced colleague, or your immediate supervisor or manager, assists you to learn how to perform one or a series of tasks by providing information and/or demonstrating the operations required. There are many different contexts in which tasks can be learned with this kind of assistance. For example, using tools or machinery; managing information using computer or related technology in a range of environments; operating administrative, financial or other organizational procedures; dealing with customers, verbally or in writing, and so on.
