Becoming a focused organization requires a radical change in every single key element that composes a company. I have developed an easy-to-use framework that addresses these six critical pillars (Figure 5.1). This framework is based on a maturity model which specifies the steps that a company needs to go through to become focused. Most maturity models, such as the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) or the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3), have five phases and can take between five and ten years to reach the highest level. The model that I propose, the Focused Maturity Model (FMM), has only two stages and can be fully implemented in less than 12 months.
