ABSTRACT
These suspicions increased daily, and were countenanced by idle and evil intentioned people, until a stop was put to them by the news of the execution of Arles and Frias by Pedro de Ursua. The Marquis and the Oidores then be came more tranquil, and praised the decisive act of the ex ecution, and the Governor’s management, promising to them selves great successes on account of the expedition. There were, however, some superstitious people who said that as blood had been shed at its commencement, it would end in blood.
