ABSTRACT

European Union (EU) governance issues have been a recurrent subject over the last 55 years in the field of EU studies. Much attention has in particular been devoted to questions of governance during the 2000s in the field of EU level social policy as a result of both the Lisbon Strategy and the various Open Methods of Coordination (OMCs). Since the 2008 crisis and the following set of EU economic reforms, of which Europe 2020 is a part, governance debates have remained central. They bear crucial implications for employment and social issues.
