ABSTRACT

Having paid a high price, Chinese culture is slowly adapting itself to Western aviation technology. Specifically through compliance with standard operating procedures and lowering the influence of Chinese authoritarianism, together with a change in the guanxi gradient between pilots on the flight deck, the progress is quite obvious. However, having digested these foreign (to the Chinese) ways of thinking, the advantages of a Chinese approach and value system will become more and more evident. With the Chinese-built COMAC C919 entering the market in the near future, the increasing Chinese influence in aviation is unavoidable, which means compatibility is even more important for a harmonious sky in the future.
