ABSTRACT
In Chapter 3 the historical development of the UK public sector during the twentieth century was discussed, and following that, consideration was given at some length to the various changes that took place during the eighteen years coinciding with the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Part II of the book then analysed how these policy and structural changes in the public sector had impacted on managerial practice within PSOs.
