ABSTRACT

Nissan Motor Company, Ltd is a multi-national automaker headquartered in Japan. It was formerly a core member of the Nissan Group, but has become more independent after it's restructuring under Chief executive officer (CEO) Carlos Ghosn. It formerly marketed vehicles under the 'Datsun' brand name and is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. The Renault-Nissan Alliance, which was established in March 1999, was the first industrial and commercial partnership of its kind involving French and a Japanese company. When Simon Sproule returned to Nissan from the Renault-Nissan Alliance where he was global communications director, it was to take up the reins of a new global marketing organization set up by Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn to whom Sproule reported as the Renault-Nissan global communications director and before that as corporate Vice president (VP) for Global Communications for Nissan. Nissan has social media guidelines globally for employees but Sproule admits that the guidelines are just basically common sense.
