ABSTRACT

We had a sharp hoare [sic] Frost this morning, the Tarpaulines [sic] over the Drays, and the Cover of the Boat being perfectly white. Such an occurrence in so low a latitude would have surprised me but for my experience of the Cold at the Depôt, where the thermometer fell to 24. Here although the frost was so heavy the thermometer stood at 31° about ½ an hour before Sunrise. The wind was and still continues to be from the South East, the freezing point here.
