ABSTRACT
In general every attempt has been made to recreate the experience of reading the original manuscript for the reader, while at the same time attempting to preserve clarity. Thus the only major additions to the text have been diacritics, hamzas (where they have been judged helpful in clarifying the meaning of the text), and the letter alif. In cases of ambiguities, which is particularly the case with regard to some of the names given in the manuscript, every attempt has been made to discover the most likely transcription؛ for more on this see the notes to the translation. The scribe frequently uses medial y a ' in the place of medial hamza, so these have been replaced. The vowellings of syllables, where given, are the scribe’s. Apparent grammatical errors or problematic vowellings have been left as found. The customary abbreviations ا ﻧ I and 2 \ ﺎ ﻧﺑ (for ا ﺎﻧر ﺑﺧ ) and ﺎ ﻧ and ﺎ ﻧ ﺛ (for ﺎ ﻧ ﺛد ﺣ ) have been left as found. Breaks have normally been inserted where the abbreviation ه ﻰﻬﺗﻧا)) has been found, except in cases where its insertion seems erroneous or unhelpfttl. To ease use of the text, breaks have also been inserted between hadiths and extensive isnads (in this case these are indicated with colons) or where there is a clear break in the flow of the text.
