ABSTRACT

This is the song of an eight-year-old girl, Isabel, the younger sister of Teresa’s great friend, Jerónimo Gracián (1545-1614). It was uttered after she had been received into the Carmel of Toledo where Teresa was residing in 1576. It is ironic that at the very time when this little girl was singing this song the authorities of the Church and the Carmelite Order were trying to put an end to Teresa’s work of founding.
