ABSTRACT

Considerable academic and industry interest has been devoted to the issue of sustainability in recent years. Sustainability is defined as a development that meets the needs of the present but also takes into account the needs of future generations. 1 In the literature, sustainability is operationalized with the triple bottom line approach which suggests that sustainability consists of three components: the natural environment, society and economic performance. The term sustainability has recently appeared in the literature of management and operations. 2 This organizational sustainability posits that the positive effects on natural environment and society could be accompanied by long-term economic benefits and competitive advantage for firms.
