ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how water companies and the contractors and consultants in their supply chain work with sustainable governance in daily practice. It is a study of sustainable project management in eight cases from Scandinavia, which were established to study CO2 emissions and managerial considerations in two different pipeline installation practices: traditional trenching and trenchless technologies. The eight comparative case studies were established in Scandinavia in collaboration with Scandinavian Society of Trenchless Technology (SSTT), two projects in Norway and Sweden respectively and four projects in Denmark, in order to study the climate impact from excavation and No Dig methods respectively in pipeline installation projects and how sustainable project management is conducted in these case studies. The chapter explains a model that expresses a need for leadership to manage sustainable governance in outsourced projects that encapsulates faith in ethics related to the business and its stakeholders.
