ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a narrative analysis of the various data sources: the liturgical text, participants, liturgists and the worship services. The method that was applied consistently to all data was the narrative method designed by Ruard Ganzevoort. The method consists of both a structured way of reading the data sources and of distinguishing six narrative elements. Before applying the reading method we will rst comment on the various authors and audiences in the liturgy. The reading method will be introduced when discussing the storylines of the liturgical text. How the six narrative elements function in the liturgy will then be discussed, but rst we will explain the elements in general now.
