ABSTRACT

Just as all research has its genesis in some objective ground, such as a sociological problem in need of a solution, an epistemological question that needs answering or a virus that demands a vaccine, research also has roots in more subjective grounds as well. Though quantitative research has historically prided itself on its utter objectivity, the reality is that whenever there are human beings involved, no research can remain completely objective. Almost without exception, the topic or question a quantitative researcher selects is informed by some subjective need or interest resident within that researcher, thus injecting the research from the outset with a subjective element.
