ABSTRACT

The Chinas do esteem pork so much, that they give it to the sick. They eat frogs also, which are sold in great tubs full of water at the gates, and they that sell them are bound to flay them. In a very short time they can skin a hundred, and they strip off the skin from behind, giving them a tap which strips them of all the skin. There are in the country, two hundred, three hundred, four hundred leagues and more from the sea by the land inward, a great abundance of sea fish, in sort that every day all the market-places are newly full of fresh sea fish, which seems a wonderful thing. The land has one great nobleness, which is that through every street they sell flesh, fish, vegeatables, and all things necessary, crying that which they sell; in sort that everything needfull passes their doors and they have no need to go to the market-place.
