ABSTRACT

Those of the country affirm generally that China has thirteen I provinces, and each province has as its capital a city very JLgreat and very populous, with very noble buildings. The first one on the side towards India is the province of Cantao, and the capital of the province is the city of Cantao, from which the province takes its name. This province has eleven cities, including the capital, and eighty walled towns, each one of which would be considered a city elsewhere, for they are very noble and well peopled. Another province is called Camsi, which is much more noble than that of Cantao, and the capital city thereof is likewise called thus. In memory of the fact that the King used to reside in the city in times past, in the house of the Pouchasi, who is the comptroller of the revenue of that province, a golden tablet on which is inscribed the name of the reigning King.
