ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the tools to bring the long-hours culture home with us. It also examines the Managing the Anywhere, Anytime Team how over the next decade or so routine management tasks will become increasingly automated, and the key management skills will be the softer ones. The chapter explores the regulations about H&S for remote and home-based workers. The manager noticing these behavioural changes is of course a manager and not a counsellor or mental health professional. So there may be a point of handover to qualify others if the situation demands it. One of the most common concerns amongst flexible workers is the possibility that working flexibly or being seen to want to, may damage career progression. E-learning and webinars are the best ways to make learning available to distributed teams, saving on unproductive travel and also, in the case of e-learning, available more in bite-size chunks for self-help.
