We reached the Terek on the 1st of July, and, Sire, the commanders Nikifor Trakhaniotov and Prince Vladimir Mosalski l told us that they had sent two Cherkesses, settlers on the Terek, to the Avar and the Black Princes to get news.2 They said that these Cherkesses returned on July 1St and on being questioned reported that they had handed over by the inhabitants to the partisans of the False Dmitri. In the following year he was killed in Tsarev-Borisov (RRS, under name).
