ABSTRACT

On the same day Khurshit and dyak Iaram who had been on an embassy to Moscow came to the ambassadors' camp with a message from the king and said to Kuzma and to Andrey:

'The king has commanded us to say to you: You have brought a letter from the great Sovereign, and letters from Patriarch Job and from the Sovereign's brother-in-law Boris Fedorovich - written in Russian. The king has not got anybody who can translate these letters; the man whom the king had before now to translate letters written in Russian has since died. The king wants to hear the contents of the letters soon. So you, Andrey, should forthwith ride with the interpreters to the king's court where the Bishop and the king's noblemen are waiting for you. You, Andrey, should read the letters which you brought with you and the interpreters should (orally) translate what is written in the letters into Turkish, and the king's clerks will write it down in Iberian.'
