ABSTRACT

ON the 23rd of April 70 97,1 the Sovereign Tsar and great Prince F edor I vanovich of all Russia sent off as ambassadors to the Georgian land, to the Iberian king Alexander, Prince Semen Z venigorodski and dyak Torkh Antonov, and along with them the cathedral monk and former treasurer Zakhkhey and the black priest Iosaf,2 both from the Troitsko-Sergiyevski monastery, and deacon F eodosi from the Chudov monastery, as well as the cathedral priests Bogdan from the Prechistenski Cathedral and Dmitri from the Arkhanilski Cathedral and deacon F edor, and icon-painters.3
