ABSTRACT

On the 27th, when they were some three versts away from King Yuri's camp, the ambassadors were met on his behalf by two Archbishops and two bishops from the land of Kartli, and by German, the Greek Metropolitan of Caesaria; a processional cross encased in silver was carried in front of them; some one hundred of King Yuri's noblemen and leading atnaurs came with them to meet the ambassadors. The Archbishops enquired after the ambassadors' health on King Yuri's behalf, and rode with them as far as the camp. King Yuri was encamped in his village of Mezhzheskov2 ; the ambassadors were quartered in this village near the King's camp, and adequate provisions were given to them.
