ABSTRACT

The generation of twenty-year-olds does not know the world without the Internet. At present the Internet is everywhere, and it may become either a friend or an enemy of entrepreneurs operating in the sector of rural tourism and agritourism. It is enough to look at a map of Internet penetration to understand the strength of the communication revolution. The management of information and the use of new technologies will be a determinant for entrepreneurs to gain competitive advantage, including entrepreneurs running businesses in the sector of rural tourism and agritourism in metropolitan areas. Social networking media are social interaction media using an extended set of communication tools, which go beyond traditional social communication. The greatest challenge is the revolution in information and communication technologies, which may be implemented in activities such as virtualisation and mobility, quick response codes and augmented reality, radio frequency identification and the Internet of Things, or combinations of these activities.
