ABSTRACT

Kampinos National Park is the second largest national park in Poland. Kampinos Forest was the place where the first organised tourism trip took place on a Polish lowland, on 2 June 1907. The tourism attractions within the park are impressive, but limited because of nature conservation. The interest of Warsaw tourists in Kampinos Forest dates back to the nineteenth century. Kampinos National Park offers the people who live in the nearby metropolis an opportunity to have contact with nature – the most valuable elements, which make the park so attractive. The park areas of higher natural value are characterised by a higher protective regime and lesser interference by technical elements of tourism facilities. Traffic monitoring, reception, appropriate information and educational actions are also important elements of tourism order in the park. The park buffer zone is an area of very high economic and tourism activity.
