Bach had one more adjustment impending: to replace the fugue for two claviers (marked here as Cp[14]) with a new concluding one (marked here as Cp[14F]).1 Given the logic that lies at the basis of the cycle’s structure, some traits of this new fugue could be foreseen:

• It should dier from Cp[14] in its thematic material, since the latter was discarded, among other reasons, because it was based on the same theme as Cp[13].
