ABSTRACT

The author thought that he uses his time at Outlandia to continue with some experiments he is doing with brass instruments and water. The author pictured all this happening up a mountain, sitting in a cave, with water from a nearby stream trickling into his euphonium. One of the good things about being geographically remote for the author is about having limited choices, having to be resourceful, to work with what is available. The euphonium that author brought with him to Outlandia was part of a brass band and he is developing it. The author uses conventional brass instruments that are adapted to be played with a foot pump, rubber inner tube, and a balloon membrane stretched over the mouth piece. Musical instruments are designed, over many generations, to be predictable, they are the tools of an orderly collaboration of musicians.
