ABSTRACT

This chapter extended the formal technique for using communication as a Performance Management Tool by introducing a checklist for building communication metrics for Project Performance Management. Communication environments directly impact an environment's Solution Delivery Capabilities and the likelihood that it will deliver the desired outcomes. The design of a Communication Environment is made up of various design elements. These are the choices we make, or the facts on the ground we have to live with, about the Communication Environment. Whether we can change the design or not, we can improve project performance by being aware of the design of the Communication Environment we operate in. In the case of Project Environment behaviors and outcomes, we have argued that since the underlying nature of the performance is people in a social environment, we should use communication as a Performance Management Tool.
