ABSTRACT

Historically, Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) was one of the most vocal radical Islamic movements in Britain, becoming a galvanizing force among some young Muslims. HT emerged as the pioneering radical Muslim youth movement during the early 1990s; it was dubbed Europe's fastest growing Muslim group'. The historical events induced Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani to respond by establishing a new political party, HT. Nabhani was a relatively unknown scholar with little political experience, except for the time he spent under the tutelage of the famous Sheikh Izz ad-Din al-Qassam. In the simplistic reading of Muslim decay, greatly underplays the complexity of Islamic historiography. Some historians believe that a reliable and authentic rebuilding of Islamic religious tradition cannot be exclusively extrapolated from Muslim source material alone. The establishment of the Dawlah Islamiya HT advocates Jihad against all non-Islamic nations in order to institute Islamic law across the globe.
