ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on information and the processes needed to support the information flow. Deciding what information is required and the processes needed to communicate this information depends on the organizational setting. Having the proper processes in place will help the organization to have accurate, timely and meaningful information. Output information refers to the reports that are produced from the input and generated information. The informational value chain in this context is viewed to be similar to the knowledge hierarchy as defined by Nissen. The information and knowledge retrieval may take the form of paper reports or visual display or some other electronic media. The data estimates consist of five categories of information, namely, project activity base estimates, project activity latest revised estimates, labour usage estimate, materials usage estimate and equipment usage estimate. The Project Period Details database also stores information about a specific project and does not hold details at activity level.
