ABSTRACT

The chapter conducts regular peer reviews throughout every project. The company's board mandates that reviews every project at least once every six weeks-this is a key part of the way they manage their risk on fixed price contracts. A gate review takes longer than a regular review, perhaps a half or full day for the review meeting. This review meeting is preceded by a planning meeting, and often by a series of detailed technical reviews undertaken by technical specialists on the review team. The central project assurance team also monitors the overall review programme, ensuring that gateways and peer reviews are performed at the appropriate point in each project. The peer review teams are drawn from other projects. For these people, getting time away from their main project can be a challenge. In a dynamic environment, getting people's time allocated to participate in review teams is a constant challenge.
