ABSTRACT

Pioneer Natural Resources is a fast growing Fortune 1000 oil and gas exploration company based in Dallas, Texas. It creates value through a combination of successful drilling, efficient development of its reserves and cost-conscious operations. Peer reviews are required on all high-profile projects, for example those with a large budget, high risk, high visibility or a high level of integration. The Project Management office (PMo) and department head assign the review team. They also promote discussion around key areas where they had problems in the past infrastructure, data management, planning, testing challenges. The team formally covers the review in one or two sessions that last about an hour each. Outside of these formal meetings, other meetings and activities occur depending on the scope and timing of the project. People also may not challenge the approach or anything that could impact timelines and budgets because they don't want people to do it to one of their projects.
