ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together some of the things that need to be managed if a review team is to be able to devote its time to gathering and analysing information. The review team will probably meet with this leadership team prior to the review in order to brief them on the review's objectives and approach, and to agree schedules and logistics. A good working relationship with the project manager and other members of the project's leadership team is essential. They understand the project intimately and hence can give many pointers as to where the review team might focus its attention. If interviewees understand that reviews are a normal organizational process, then they are less likely to be concerned about being singled out for special scrutiny. Reviews can be intensive activities. On major health checks and gateways, you have a few days to get up to speed with a complex project, identify any issues and begin to make recommendations.
