ABSTRACT

Projects tend to vary in the communication technologies that they employ, with the larger projects using a wider variety of technologies, as people would expect. Whilst producing their project plan it is important to consider the preferences of their various stakeholders with regard to the type of communication technology that they use. Different stakeholders can have differing levels of technical knowledge and some communication technologies can be easier for them to access than others. Human beings have a tremendous capacity for processing information which is still unmatched by any computer, despite the leaps in technological advances. Because we have this capacity to input so much information, evolution has provided us with shortcuts to organise this information and these can sometimes cause us to make wide generalisations or distortions which can lead to mistakes. The distortions are stereotyping, the horns and halo' effect, selective perception and attribution.
