ABSTRACT

Changes suggested by designers, the buyer or site management after drawings and specifications have been released for construction simply because each change seems desirable and improves the project in some way. All authorized internal changes and contract variations affect schedules, drawings and specifications, cost control data and earned value calculations. The contractor should appoint a clerk or other person in the home office to administer all changes, contract variations and daywork sheets. Changes made by designers or requested by the buyer or senior site staff because of design errors or other difficulties discovered during construction. Changes to the scope or design of the project requested by the client and agreed in a formal contract variation document. Approved changes, excepting dayworks, will affect the project schedule and the relevant drawings and specifications. All of these must be updated so that the schedule remains valid and the drawings and specifications record the true as-built state of the project.
