ABSTRACT

This book has been my own attempt at a ‘lessons learned’, not from a single project, but from 30 years in the public and private sectors. I was driven to it by the number of major Government projects in various countries that have ended in acrimonious dispute because of basic failures in the procurement process. Millions upon millions upon millions of pounds and dollars thrown away on fiascos that could have been avoided. Millions upon millions upon millions of pounds and dollars that could have been spent achieving something worthwhile. Governments do not have to go on making these mistakes. Failure is avoidable. Success is achievable.
