ABSTRACT
This chapter explicates how critical postmodern theory was integral to enabling the practitioners to reconstruct their practice. It explores some of the contextual considerations when thinking through the implications of the research. Critical postmodern thinking assisted participants to enhance feminist practice and improve prospects for emancipatory change. This observation may be particularly useful for practitioners who want to incorporate feminist ideals into their work, despite operating in contemporary contexts that may be hostile to goals and values of feminism. Critical postmodern analysis proved to be an important inclusion for assisting practitioners to overcome some of the dichotomous constructions inherent in their initial feminist thinking. Critical postmodern analyses extend feminist thinking by reconstructing the ways in which power is conceptualised. Critical postmodern thinking highlighted that modernist feminist practice casts other professionals involved in the legal process as oppositional and universally problematic.
