ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the negative implications for the organization and those who give the risk data be punished or otherwise made to feel uncomfortable or that they are not a team player. These organizational culture issues can trump any individual's desire to conduct risk analysis. Organizing and conducting the risk interview can contribute to the success of the risk data gathering exercise and enhance the credibility of the risk analysis results. It is particularly important for those organizations and individuals that have low-risk management maturity levels and are inexperienced in risk analysis to be alert to these issues. The level of the risk management maturity of the organization be indicated in part by the degree to which the risk analysis function is independent of the project under review. The chapter discusses the organizational risk management maturity which includes structures and practices that make the people comfortable and give them the tools for realistic risk assessments.
