Organisations have mostly cured the old IT problems that caused headlines a decade ago. In those days businesses didn’t make adequate backups and hard drives would fail, causing a loss of data.

Problems caused by employees used to loom large. People would click on email attachments or send out embarrassing information. But these too, with some exceptions, have been largely reduced. Even the alarm caused by staff bringing their own devices to work (BYOD) has proved to be less of a problem than it might.
