Over the course of the 1960s, new notions of discomfort challenged Van Kuyck’s post-war discourse on the democratisation of comfortable housing, leading him to fundamentally question the traditional concept of the house. The debate on technological equipment came to serve not only as a contribution, but also as an obstruction, to the post-war goal of domestic comfort.5
