ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates how a Resilience Analysis Grid can be used to profile the performance of a company in terms of some abilities that characterize a resilient organization. In the offshore environment, improvements in the resilience of the organization are expected to increase its flexibility and robustness. Resilience characteristics are thought to be an indication of the system’s ability to cope with performance variability that is a natural part of socio-technical systems. The monitoring ability of a company should enable short-term threats and opportunities to be identified. Production plans are shown on the left and logistics plans on the right. In order to establish an integrated plan, all of these individual plans must be incorporated into one single plan at all levels of the hierarchy. Planning is organized according to various timescales distributed across a hierarchy of plans. Long-term planning concerns realization of strategic goals and targets at a company level, which is expressed in strategic and tactical plans.
