ABSTRACT

This chapter presents findings from interviews with Asian and white parents and non-interethnic children and adolescents – in order to understand their experiences in comparison to the Asian and white interethnic children and adolescents. The main themes include issues such as cultural identity, language, religion, education, friendships, marriage, family, bullying, racism and the community. It is important to note that the author will not be formulating theories but will be reporting on the accounts of the participants as expressed by them. Although the beliefs and narratives will vary from person to person the findings will be presented in nine grounded theoretical propositions.
