ABSTRACT

The air cargo industry lurches from periods of deep pessimism when large network carriers state their intention to discontinue freighter services for good to times of optimism and strong growth. The year 2009 was a time of a slump in world trade, a sharp downturn in almost all air cargo markets and the widespread grounding of freighter aircraft. By 2010, however, traffic had bounced back and the IATA was forecasting a healthier future.
