ABSTRACT

Thus wrote Thomas Bartholin (1616-1680), renowned anatomist, collector, professor and dean of the Medical Faculty at the University of Copenhagen in a letter to one of the founders of the German Academia Naturae Curiosorum, Philipp Jakob Sachs von Lewenhaimb in Breslau. Bartholin corresponded on various topics with Sachs. Among them was a marvellous case of a pregnant foetus born on the Island of Funen in Denmark, on which the above quotation was a comment.2
